Heaven is for Real

I read the book, Heaven is for Real. If any book has pictures, of course I cheat and look ahead at them because who wants to wait until you actually reach the section of the book with pictures? There was a photo in there called "Prince of Peace" and I didn't think much of it. I honestly looked at it and thought, "Yeah that looks like a lot of photos I've seen of Jesus."

I got to the end of the book and started crying. My life has taken a different turn that I had in mind and after reading this book, I was violently reminded I'm not in charge, never was, and never will be.

This little boy in the book had a near death experience and while he was on the hospital bed, he sat on the lap of Jesus. He told his dad when he awoke from surgery about all the people he'd met in Heaven, but whom he'd never met in his real life. In fact, he had never heard of most the people he saw.

Anyway, the point of this post is to share what I got most out of this book. This picture. He kept telling his dad how beautiful Jesus was. When his parents showed him photos of Jesus (what we've all seen and guessed was Him), the little boy didn't approve of any photos. He kept saying "no that's not right," "hair's too long," "nope that's not it."

There's a little girl named, Akiane ("Ah-ki-anah") who is 4 years old. She'd never heard of Jesus but all of a sudden was having visions of Him and she painted this spectacular piece of art. The boy's dad found it and showed it to his son. He asked his son, "so what's wrong with this one?"

After the boy stared at it for a few minutes with no response, he finally looked up to his dad and said, "nothing's wrong with this one." I lost it after reading that and couldn't get to the photo in the middle of the book fast enough.

It truly is beautiful.

Now and Then

I've been meaning to put this up since December. We did this for my parents for Christmas- they both about cried. I don't know if they thought it was sweet or they cried laughing at how terrible they dressed us back then.

Red Rock by day, Vegas by night.

If I could have 2 boyfriends, Reed would be #2. There is something about Vegas that I love. Maybe it's the people watching or the hot weather or the pool or the bartender at the pool that for some reason was on a mission to make Reed and I forget our entire day through vodka.

Reed and I packed up the bikes and bathing suits and enjoyed a really relaxing vacation. Usually when I go to Vegas, it's a big party but this was the first time I felt like a grown up doing it grown up things. We relaxed by the pool all day, went for an awesome bike ride up in Red Rock (next time we are staying there) and we saw "O" which was insane! I've never seen a show in Vegas and I'm so glad I did.

By far the best trip I've taken with Reed (besides camping in Santa Barbara 2 years ago when he insisted that he packed everything we needed for the weekend: bud lite, Jameson, chips and salsa... mm yeah that's it). We have so much fun together and even though I was sick and trying not to die, I loved every minute of it!
